Father Of The Year

This was an ok comedy, alright if you want a silly funny film, a typical David Spade Comedy. Two college graduates head home before starting jobs in New York, and then have a friendly argument over whose dad would win in a fight between them.

Not at the top of my list, but ok for a laugh.

Alex Strangelove

Another great film from Netflix, I have to say they are upping their game of late.

Alex is a high school student with everything worked out, until he plans to lose his virginity with his high school sweetheart. Things just don’t go the way he planned, he meets Elliott a handsome gay kid.

Alex then goes through a rollercoaster of emotions working out who he is and his sexuality in these confusing modern times.

At its heart this is a sweet coming of age film, with friendship and love at its core.

Definitely one to watch, I will watch this again for sure.

Dude

I struggled through watching this movie, it was based on a group of friends in their final year of school.

The story had potential, but seemed to focus a lot on the drugs, getting high and yet they somehow manage to graduate with some fights along the way. As a chick flick I didn’t enjoy the movie.

I wouldn’t recommend it, and won’t be watching it again.

Game Over, Man!

Three friends are so close to getting their video game financed when their benefactor is kidnapped by a terrorist group. The friends then try to rescue their benefactor.

Not going to watch this one again, I really did not enjoy it, I watched to the end and kept thinking it was going to get better but it didn’t. Which is a pity as it could have been quite funny.

Set It Up

Two over worked assistants hatch a plan to set up their respect bosses to carve out time for themselves.

This is an enjoyable romcom on Netflix, whilst very predictable if you just want to switch off and enjoy a new romcom you will love it.

I think this is a great Netflix Romcom, it’s in the same league as The Kissing Booth, and Candy Jar.

Directed by Claire Scanlon.

Written by Katie Silberman.

Starring Zoey Deutch, Lucy Liu, Pete Davidson, Glen Powell, Taye Diggs, Tituss Burgess, Shyrley Rodriguez, Meredith Hagner, Jon Rudnitsky, Evan Parke, Jacqueline Honulik, Faith Logan, Noah Robbins, Kate Middleton, Wai Ching Ho,

Step Sisters

The best way to describe this movie is Step Up in college. Jamilah is the president of her sorority and about to go to law school. Then she finds herself secretly teaching another group how to step. Cultures clash, but at the heart of it, friendship and finding your voice triumph.

A nice chick flick, feel good movie. It won’t be winning any prizes. Very watchable, and I’d watch it again, a nice find on Netflix.

Directed by Charles Stone III.

Written by Chuck Haywood.

Starring Megalyn Echikunwoke, Eden Sher, Lyndon Smith, Gage Golightly, Alessandra Torresani, Nia Jervier, Marque Richardson, Naturi Naughton, Matt McGorry, Sheryl Lee Ralph, L Warren Young, Robert Curtis Brown, Ashlee Brie Gillum, Jene Moore, Asia Alvarez, Anjelika Washington, Lindsey Blackwell, Emmanuel Hudson, Ira Carmichael, Joel Derby, Sean Michael Webber, Abraham Clinkscales, Belle Eseoghene Omabele, Tinuke Adetunji, Evan Castelloe, Hannah Jelinovic, Chesley Polk, Aaron Matthews, Jeremy Denzel Williams, Tyler Galpin, Nate Hitpas, Aaron James and Kenneth Tipton.

Candy Jar

Two high school debaters, cannot stand each other, and have hated each other their whole school career. They have to work together to get into the college of their dreams.

It’s a nice film, nothing outrageous or controversial here. Just a nice movie to watch. I would watch it again, but make sure I have plenty of lollies, as it does make you want something sweet to eat. So if you are looking for an easy comedy to watch on Netflix this is the one.

My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman – Bonus: You’re Dave Letterman You Idiot

I was so pleased to see there was a bonus episode on Netflix of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman. Jerry Seinfeld joined David Letterman, for a talk on stage, not filmed as part of the series. But added to Netflix this week.

Worth a watch if you haven’t already seen it.

My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman – Howard Stern isn’t angry anymore

The last Episode of David Letterman’s new show, was with Howard Stern. It was great having Howard Stern as the last guest, as he had appeared on Letterman’s other shows countless times.

It was funny, real and enjoyable. Stay tuned at the end for Dave riding off into the sunset.

If you haven’t seen any of these episodes, catch up you won’t regret it.

The Incredible Jessica James

I quite enjoyed this movie. It’s the story of Jessica James an aspiring playwright after a breakup who meets a guy. That being said the romantic nature of the film is just one part not the whole story line.

It also delves through how confidence ebbs and flows for people. It’s a great uplifting film, and I must say the ending is great!

Definitely watch it again, especially when I’m in need of a better mood and a laugh.

Directed and written by Jim Strouse.

Starring Jessica Williams, Chris O’Dowd, Lakeith Stanfield, Noel Wells and Taliyah Whitaker to name a few.
