Ant-Man And The Wasp

So first up I love the Marvel Films. I was also lucky enough to win a double pass to see the film at an Advanced screening, what can I say but I love a good competition.

The film was funny, and happens at the same time as Infinity Wars, but focuses on Ant-Man and The Wasp. I don’t want to give any spoilers other than to say, stay right to the very end. Will definitely watch again.

RBG

The notorious RBG, a great new documentary on US Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg.

I really enjoyed this documentary, I’d heard of RBG but did not know the full extent of her story. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg has had an amazing career and has had a remarkable impact on the law.

If you’ve not heard of her, go check this documentary out, take everyone it will give you some hope and light in this crazy world. Especially knowing that Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg is still working today! If you still aren’t convinced then read some of her dissents, you’ll soon change your mind.

Directed by Julie Cohen and Betsy West.

Starring Bill Clinton, Sharron Frontiero, Jane C Ginsberg, Martin D Ginsberg, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Orrin Hatch, Lilly Ledbetter, Rush Limbaugh, The Notorious BIG, Antonin Scalia, Gloria Steinem, Nina Totenberg and Stephen Wiesenfeld.

Priscilla Queen Of The Desert

So last night I went and saw Priscilla Queen Of The Desert for the second time this year at the Capitol Theatre, we managed to pick up $55 Rush tickets and we were in Row C.

I have to saw I loved it. Do yourself a favour and go see this awesome Australian Musical, tickets are on sale upto 21st July.

Check out my previous blog post from March Priscilla Queen Of The Desert.

Michael Bolton – 22/06/2018 – Sydney

I thoroughly enjoyed Michael Bolton on Friday night at the State Theatre on his Symphony tour. Michael performed with the Sydney Lyric Orchestra, and also had Australian singer Silvie Paladino join him on stage for a series of duets.

From his first song you knew Michael hadn’t lost any of his voice. Below is the setlist from the evening.

Stand By Me

To Love Somebody

(Sittin’ On) The Dock Of The Bay

Said I Loved You But I Lied

You Don’t Know Me

To Make You Feel My Love

How Am I Supposed To Live Without You

Ain’t No Mountain High Enough

The Prayer

Nessun Dorma

Georgia On My Mind

Hallelujah

You Are So Beautiful

When A Man Loves A Woman

How Can We Be Lovers

Steel Bars

Time, Love And Tenderness

Soul Provider [encore]

It was great to see Michael had a great sense of humour, working with the audience throughout the night, from Marriage proposals, to raucous laughter.

In the end I would definitely see Michael again, I’m still considering buying a ticket to see him again this Wednesday night at the State Theatre.

Strange Colours – SFF

I saw this Australian Film last night, a young woman visits her estranged father in opal mining town Lightning Ridge.

It was well done, but I didn’t really enjoy it. It may have been that I was tired, but it didn’t capture my attention. So not one I would recommend or watch again. Though everyone else in the cinema seemed to like it.

Directed by Alena Lodkina.

Written by Alena Lodkina and Isaac Wall.

Starring Kate Cheel, Justin Courtin and Daniel P Jones.

Brothers Nest – SFF

First up it’s definitely not Kenny.

This Australian Film is a dark comedy, and is full of surprises.

Two brothers attempt to commit the perfect murder, family dynamics and family politics begin to raise their ugly head, causing such a great dark comedy.

I’ll be watching this one again for sure. Even though it makes you question your laughter.

Look out for Kym Gyngell, who does such a brilliant job I forgot about all characters from the Comedy Company.

As part of the Sydney Film Festival, we had an Introduction to the film by Clayton Jacobson and 3 others, followed by a Q and A.

Also John Jarrett and George Miller were in the same session watching the film as me!!

Directed by Clayton Jacobson.

Written by Jaime Browne and Chris Pahlow.

Starring Shane Jacobson, Clayton Jacobson, Kym Gyngell, Lynette Curran, Sarah Snook

The Second – SFF

This clever Australian Film, keeps you guessing right up until the end.

This psycho-thriller is a great piece of cinema, and will draw you in well and truly. I enjoyed this movie and will probably watch it again someday.

Based on an author struggling to write her second book. Enter her sexy publisher, her childhood friend and a story from the past that won’t stay buried.

Directed by Mairi Cameron.

Written by Stephen Lance.

Starring Rachael Blake, Susie Porter, Martin Sacks and Vince Colosimo.

Sydney Film Festival 2018 starts

Last night the 2018 Sydney Film Festival started, with more than 200 films screening over the 12 days at multiple locations around the city.

I’ll be heading out each night over the next 11 days to see a few of these great movies and documentaries.

If you haven’t had a chance to check out the program, you can check it out www.sff.org.au, or download the app.

I’ll be posting my reviews, so apologies in advance for the frequency. I managed to get most films in my schedule that I really wanted to see, except two.

I’m looking forward to seeing which 12 films are selected for the official competition. I’ll also let you know at the end of the Festival all the prizes awarded during the Festival.

Wish me luck on my schedule, I’ll be working also, so time will be tight…

Gringo + Q&A with Giles Hardie and Joel Edgerton

Last night I went and saw Gringo followed by Q and A with Giles Hardie and Director Nash Edgerton. I was lucky enough to win a double pass, thanks Event Cinemas.

It’s a great film, so well done! It’s a fast paced action film, crime story that has many twists and turns you don’t see coming. It’s an intelligent action film, with comedy and humour.

I’ll definitely be watching this again, especially as it’s Movie of the week at Event Cinemas meaning $10 tickets!

Directed by Nash Edgerton.

Written by Matthew Stone & Anthony Tambakis.

Starring David Oyelowo, Joel Edgerton, Charlize Theron, Thandie Newton, Amanda Seyfried, Bashir Salahuddin, Glenn Kubota, Melonie Diaz, Harry Treadaway, Theo Taplitz, Paris Jackson, Yul Vazquez, Hernan Mendoza, Ricardo Esquerra, Carlos Corona, Alan Ruck, and Sharlto Copley to name a few.

I thoroughly enjoy the Q and A portion of these events, last nights was no exception. Nash spoke about how he started in the film industry, all the different career hats from Stuntman to Director that he has done and does still.

He also spoke of his Production Company Blue Tongue Films, which he started with his brother and friends.

Priscilla Queen Of The Desert

Last night I went with some friends to see Priscilla Queen Of The Desert, at Capitol Theatre. We all loved it!

I’ve seen the movie quite a few times over the years, but have never seen the stage production before. I absolutely loved it and would definitely go again. If you are on the fence about whether to go, just go you won’t be disappointed.

From the performances, to the music and those costumes, I loved it.

The cast received a standing ovation, which I’m sure they’ll get every performance.

Starring Tony Sheldon, David Harris, Euan Doidge, Jakob Ambrose, Blake Appelqvist, Michelle Barr, Angelique Cassimatis, Lena Cruz, Xander Ellis, Mitchell Fistrovic, Robert Grubb, Samm Hagen, Tom Handley, Haydan Hawkins, Luke Jarvis, Joe Kosky, Leonard Mickelo, and Cle Morgan to name a few.

I’m off to listen to the soundtrack, shake your groove thing, yeah yeah!
