Overboard

I was so excited to see this film, I grew up watching the original starring Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, I’ve watched the original more times than I can count.

Whilst I enjoyed the remake, and the twist in roles of the two main characters in the story. Anna Faris is great as is the rest of the cast. Unfortunately I still think I prefer the original. That being said if still watch this movie again, though probably on the small screen.

Brain On Fire

I found this gem on Netflix, I hadn’t heard of it before, but so glad I watched it. This is based on the true story of Susannah Cahalan a young journalist, who starts to exhibit erratic behaviour, episodes, and ends in a catatonic state in hospital. The doctors are baffled and believe it is a psychological problem and want to admit her into a psychiatric ward. However a neurologist ended up diagnosing her with anti-NMDA receptor autoimmune encephalitis.

It’s an amazing story, and by Susannah telling her story and her work with her doctor many others have been helped. She was the 217th person to be diagnosed with this illness, since then thousands have been diagnosed.
